The Town of Cumberland in Indiana lies along the Historic National Road. Half of the town lies in Hancock County while the other half lies in Marion County, just to the east of Indianapolis. The town was first platted on July 7, 1831 with the name Cumberland, Maryland. The town still straddles the two counties and has a population of just 5,500.
