Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is a public institution of higher learning formed out of the merger of Indiana University and Purdue University in 1969. The university also has a campus kitchen that has been in existence since 2014. The Campus Kitchen is a student-run initiative and is a food distribution and food rescue service that channels used food from IUPUI and area restaurants, groceries, and farmers’ markets into meals that are channeled to the various local agencies catering to those in need. IUPUI also has a produce market that sells a variety of fruits and vegetables from its urban gardens. The produce market also features cooking demos as well as some limited tastings.
