Shadeland Move In/Move Out Cleaning
The history of Shadeland dates back to 1824, when Joseph Hawkins and William Jones mapped the area. This area was later named Shadeland by William Taylor in 1828, when he arrived with his wife and kids, and settled down here.
The first residents of the town built houses after tilling land, planting good crops, and rearing some cattle. James and Suzanna Hawkins, the founders of Shadeland Farms, became famous for their cattle, and the site has become a local landmark until today.
One of the most historic buildings in Shadeland is the Farmers Institute. This institute was founded in 1851 and was the first academy in Tippecanoe County. The Farmers Institute became a Quaker meeting house in the 19th century and today, residents come for silent worship here on the first Sunday of every month. Surprisingly, the Farmers Institute also housed a public library during 1882 to 1889. In 1986 is was listed on the National Register of Historic Places to be preserved for its historical significance.
There are few dining options nearby Shadeland if you are ever in the area, we would highly recommend dropping by Arni’s Lafayette Shadeland. The restaurant has been since 1965, and visitors love their pizzas and subs.
The town is also home to Greater Lafayette Kennel Club, Inc and offers classes to dogs and their owners on a wide range of topics. Classes offered include training fundamentals, competition obedience, agility, rally, nose-work, therapy dog skills, and conformation.
Shadeland has a reputation of being a friendly town and is a great option to live for anyone who enjoys a peaceful atmosphere.
